{"id":848,"date":"2022-10-22T22:13:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-22T21:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/industrialheritageireland.info\/Blog\/?p=848"},"modified":"2022-10-23T14:13:38","modified_gmt":"2022-10-23T13:13:38","slug":"the-ulster-canal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/industrialheritageireland.info\/Blog\/index.php\/2022\/10\/22\/the-ulster-canal\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ulster Canal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Regular readers of this site know that I am opposed to the &#8220;restoration&#8221; of the Ulster Canal on both heritage and economic grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am back to being a lone voice in the wilderness on this one, since the passing of Brian J Goggin of irishwaterwayshistory.com 2 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In memory of Brian, whose contribution to the recording of the history of Ireland&#8217;s canals and navigable waterways far exceeded anything I have achieved, <a href=\"http:\/\/industrialheritageireland.info\/canals\/Ulster%20Canal\/index.html\">I have created a map of the Ulster Canal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two larger scale maps linked off this &#8211; one covering from Charlemont to Lock 10 and the other from Lock 11 to Wattlebridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the moment, these latter two are flat pages.
