This publication, whilst dealing with the Ballymacarrett railway accident of 1871, brings in a raft of other issues which, although covered in separate chapters, tends to give the book a very disjointed feel. Chapters are provided on the accident, its victims, the chairman of the railway company and one on the effects of alcohol on society in Ireland (the man in charge of the train that caused the accident was drunk at the time). The stop start nature of the relevant text and the lack of an ISBN number, making it more difficult to obtain a copy, count against this publication but at Stg£7, you wouldn't go far wrong.
