This publication is primarily a photographic review of the Belfast tramway system between 1872 and 1954. The book starts with a history of the tramway network in Belfast, ending with the last tram in 1954. The book does not cover the later trolley bus phase. As can be expected for a book about trams, the majority of photos are of trams, however, there are a small number of photos of trams at the various depots as well as the aftermath of the Nazi bombing raids on Belfast. There is also an interesting photo of a tram that has derailed on a corner and come to rest in an adjacent building.
