This book is a personal photographic record of the railways of CIE between 1958 and 1962. Whilst, as ever, the primary focus is on trains/rolling stock, built heritage
features included are:
* Wexford South signal cabin
* Cork Coaling stage
* Clontarf Bridge (Cork City) with train immediately followed by a bus!
* Albert Quay signal cabin
* Kilmessan signal cabin
* Clones
* Drumshanbo water tower
The overall level of IH interest in this publication is unfortunately low and in the photos where the above features exist, they are background items, secondary to the
train. This confirms what a friend of mine from the mining heritage field said to me about a mine engine house in Silvermines, Co. Tipperary. He bemoaned that no
photographs of the building, which was demolished in the 1960s, existed. In doing so, he noted that the only people with decent photographic equipment then were
railway enthusiasts "and they were too busy trainspotting to care".
