The opening chapters of this book set the tramway scene by detailing the development of tram systems and rails around the world, followed up by the development of tramcars. The subsequent layout of the book divides the development of tramway systems in Ireland by motive power, i.e., horse, steam and electric trams. This results in the cities (Dublin, Cork and Belfast) appearing under two or three of the sections. The book is well illustrated with maps and photographs and is worth obtaining.
