Railway Memories is a local publication looking at the memories of those connected with the railway system in Co. Down. There are 18 chapters in the book, each taking the form of an interview with former railway staff. As a format, it is good as conversations with staff will usually reveal information that escapes the formal record systems of corporate entities. Interesting facts noted were that Banbridge had a 660 foot platform - the longest GNR(I) platform in Northern Ireland; staff at Banbridge were forbidden from revealing the revenue figures for the Scarva to Banbridge line - allegedly because the line was not losing money (the line closed) and that Warrenpoint Presbyterian Church had a water powered organ. On Sunday, staff at the train station had to turn off their supply to the station tank as otherwise the organ would be affected.
