York Road Station was the terminus of the B&BR and later incarnations of the B&NCR/MR(NCC)/LMS(NCC). As befitted a terminus, it was a substantial station with multiple platforms and intermediate carriage sidings. On the Down side is the railway works, which remains
as such for NIR and has expanded into the site of the former station after this closed in 1992. There was also a railway hotel outside the station, the building remaining to this day. A little known railway - the Belfast and Cavehill Railway, ran in a tunnel under the works,
having pre-existed the B&BR. The original station building was damaged extensively in World War 2 and again during the Troubles.
On the Up side of the station, the Belfast Harbour Commissioners line trailed in at Dufferin Dock Junction. This line had a connection through Princes Dock Street and the Queen's Bridge Tunnel to the GNR(I) at Maysfield (site of the present day Lanyon Place Station).
North of the station, on the Up side, was Duncrue Street works, accessed by a siding and traverser serving the roads therein.
