Site Description
The station at Albert Quay was quite extensive, as befitted one of the larger railway companies in Ireland. Behind the station building, there were separate arrival and departure platforms with a carriage siding in between. The Cork City Railways later ran on the western side
of the Up (arrivals platform) from 1912. Beyond the Down (Departures platform) were two goods stores and a loading bank along with multiple sidings. At the Bantry end of the station was the signal cabin, elevated over the running line from the Departures platform and
beyond this, a turntable on each side of the line with that on the Up side serving the locomotive shop of the CB&SCR works. There was also a carriage and wagon shop on this side of the line. Hiberian Road spanned the railway on a bridge south of these but there had
originally been a level crossing here.
The station building remains with a modern office complex built on the site of the other facilities.
