Site Description
Burtonport was the terminus of the line from Letterkenny. There was a single platform on the Up side on which was the station building, since demolished. There was a goods area behind this on the same side. The locomotive shed was on the Down side approaching the station. It
remains standing today in alternative use. There was a carriage shed opposite the platform on the Down side. This structure was little more than a corrugated iron shelter like a modern day hay barn - a modern building now occupies the site of this. There was a siding beyond the station
onto the pier at Burtonport, which remained in situ for many years after closure of the line.
