Located at a road overbridge on the Carndonagh Branch, Carndoagh Halt was opened in 1930, but was short lived as the line closed in 1935. It was noted in a Guard's Journal on 24th May, 1929 as "Campbell's Halt". Location wise, the halt would be between where the
minor road heading north from the R238 takes a curve to the right and back to the left again. This curve in the road predated the railway.
