Site Description

The terminal station at Downpatrick was at the end of the line from Belfast and the start of the line to Newcastle, trains using the station having to reverse to go to/from Belfast/Newcastle. There was a single platform with two faces on the Up side, covered by an overall roof. There was a loco shed on the Down side, which replaced an earlier one on the Up side before the station. No trace remains of the station today, a bus station and office complex occupying the site.
