Site Description

Adamstown station is a privately funded station (by the developer Castlethorn) on the railway line from Dublin Heuston Station to Kildare. There are 5 platforms here, one each on the Down and Up sides as well as an island platform with two faces. This allows full interchange between trains on the slow and fast lines of the Kildare Route Project. There is also a turnback siding with its own platform at the Heuston Station end of the island. The station building is elevated over the line and spans all four tracks. The station was opened on 16th April 2007 by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, TD.
