Clongriffin is a new station opened in 2010 with both Up and Down island platforms. There is a passing loop on the Down side, serving the outer edge of the platform on that side. The edging for similar on the Up side exists, but there is no loop present here. The station
building is above the line.
Planning permission for the station was granted in 2005 but subject to the design being approved by Irish Rail. Irish Rail had objected to the previous permission as the station was not to their design nor approval for building on their land.
