Hansfield is a two platformed station built to serve planned residential development in West Dublin, which had not materialised by the time of opening in 2013, due to the economic downturn. The station is the 21st Century Irish Rail classic
design with the station building elevated over the tracks. There are both Up and Down platforms at the station, which is only a short distance from the junction with the Maynooth Line, such that trains on the latter can be seen from the south end of the platforms.
