Site Description

The Point Depot was opened in 1878 as the Liffey side goods depot for the GSWR, enabling them to overcome the limitations of having their Dublin terminus at Kingsbridge. It ceased to be used in the 1980s and was sold, being redeveloped as a concert venue in 1988. The outer walls of the depot remain, incorporated into the O2 complex. The track adjacent to the roundabout outside the Point Depot previously ran through the yard of the depot linking the North Wall Quay Extension to the rest of the railway network.
