Site Description

On the Up side before this station were pleasure gardens owned by the railway company. The station, which closed in 1960, was rebuilt and reopened in 1984 with both Up and Down platforms. There is a car park on the Up side. The Down platform is accessed via a footbridge, the first of the two that are here, the second is the public right of way bridge. There are two columns, one square and one round south of the station. These are the remains of a footbridge which gave access to the beach from Salthill House, a railway owned hotel previously located on the site of the apartments on the Up side of the line.
