Site Description
The station here closed in 1963. There are both Up and Down platforms with the running line serving that on the Down side. The station building that is on this was restored to its former physical glory by WESTRAIL. The Up platform was served by a loop. The signal box, a block post until 1980 is on the Up side at the Limerick end of the station. The former goods area, which contains a roofless store, loading bank and site of a siding was at the Limerick end of the station on the Down side. At the Claremorris end of the station, there is an accommodation crossing. The station was used in the film "The Quiet Man" under the name "Castletown".Photographs
