There is a terminal island platform at this station with both faces in use. Previously, the line continued on to Limerick via Listowel, Newcastle West and Ballingrane Junction and to Fenit. The latter is now a greenway but was disconnected and out of use for many years. The former closed in stages between 1975 and 1977. At the west end of the station, the closed Edward Street level crossing remains beside the signal cabin on the Up side. The former goods area is on the same side and contains the disused goods store. The station building is on the Down side and contains offices for both bus and rail operations. The bus station is outside the station building. It and the car park occupy the site of a former interchange siding with the narrow gauge T&DR. There is a shop in this area. On the external wall of the station building, there is a plaque to commemorate the addition of the name "Casement" to the station in 1966, in honour of Irish patriot Roger Casement. The suffix is rarely, if ever used.
