Signal interlocking - CY. Approaching the station, a round tower can be seen on the Down side in the distance. There are Up and Down platforms here, with that on the Up side being served by a through siding off the Up line, as opposed to being served directly by it. This
can be accessed from either direction. The signal interlocking is on the Down side at the Dublin end of the station. This was on a separate loading bank, which had a siding serving it. This was incorporated into the Down platform when the latter was extended a few years
ago.
The former goods depot is on the same side at the Cork end of the station. It contains a disused goods store, a building for the PW department and a number of sidings. Access to this is controlled by a 2-lever ground frame. There are the remains of a disused loading bank behind the Up platform. There is a water tower on the Down platform, as is the main station building, a fine example of railway architecture. The buildings on the Up platform contain a waiting room and shop.
