Approaching the station, there is a long siding on the Down side which extends from the former loco area. This area, which is at the Dublin end of the Down platform, previously had a turntable. It is now used by the Permanent Way department. There is also a loop on the
Up side prior to the station. There was previously a middle road at this two platformed station, the principal buildings of which, complete with belfry are on the Up side. There is a water tank on top of the buildings on the Down side of the line, behind which is another water
tank. These buildings were originally built as station refreshment rooms.
There is a lift accessible footbridge midway along the platforms. The disused goods store is at Dublin end of the station, behind the Up platform where there are disused sidings and a loading bank. This area is used for ballast loading. The line to Galway and Westport
diverges on the Up side at the Cork end of the station. The signal interlocking and the remains of an aerial are on the Up side beside this.
