Site Description

Whilst technically the start of the D&ER and successor railways, Barrack Street was primarily a goods station, with passenger trains starting at the junction station with the Dublin - Belfast line. There were two platforms and two goods stores herewith multiple sidings on the Down side. There was a rail served sawmill on the Up side. Behind the terminal end of the station, a single track line ran to both Dundalk Harbour and the DN&GR at Quay Street.
