Site Description
Opened in 1948 to serve Butlins holiday camp, there is just one platform here, on the Down side. This was not served by the Down line, but by a loop off this, which was accessible from both lines. There were previously headshunts at each end of the loop. The
connections and loop have since been removed. The disused signal cabin, now privately owned is midway along the platform. The station closed after the camp was taken over by the Government as a holding centre for asylum seekers. There is a beach beside the
holiday camp, however, between the railway and this, is an army firing range, hindering direct access to the latter.
