As part of the road improvement to upgrade the Straffan Road, Maynooth to be used as the motorway access road for the town, the original arch
bridge over the railway was demolished to be replaced by the present structure. As this was not on the original alignment (which can still be
ascertained as the adjacent bridge over the Royal Canal remains), a rebuilding of the station access road was required. In this image, this is nearing
completion.
