The West Donegal Railway reached Donegal Town in 1892, but had insufficient funds left to build a station. Accordingly, a separate company was
formed to build the station and lease it to the WDR. This company was eventually merged into the CDRJC. The station building is now used by
CDRRL as their visitor centre.
