Albert Street was the terminus of the Cork Blackrock & Passage Railway, which eventually extended beyond Passage to reach Crosshaven. The
station was a neighbour of the larger Albert Quay station of the CB&SCR, such that the director of one of the concerns was stated to have remarked
that the two stations were 'within kissing distance' of each other. Originally a standard gauge line, the CB&PR converted to narrow gauge, thereby
ending any possibility of getting into bed with their standard gauge neighbour.
