Referred to as the "Burma Road" by railwaymen of old - due to the difficulties in driving it - the line between Claremorris and Collooney is better
known as the Western Rail Corridor. Out of use since 1975, the line remains in situ and unabandoned. There is a campaign afoot to reopen the line.
