The station at Gort lived on for many years after the cessation of passenger trains in 1976 as a goods station. It was also used for the storage of redundant brake vans. Now closed completely and no longer a block post, this photo was taken from the steps of the signal cabin. The cabin was switched out, making the long section Ennis - Athenry, as can be determined from the fact the Up and Down signals visible on the through road are both lowered.
