OBE for Sonia Rolt

Friday, December 31st, 2010

Whilst not of direct relevance to industrial heritage in Ireland, Mrs Sonia Rolt, the widow of L T C Rolt - author of the classic Green & Silver - has been awarded an OBE in the United Kingdom New Years Honours List, for services to Industrial Archaeology and to Heritage.

Green & Silver is an account of the Rolts' travel by water in Ireland, regarded as significant because their journey included the entire length of the Royal Canal shortly before the canal was closed to navigation.
