IRISH RAILWAY PHOTOGRAPHERS - The Swilly and The Wee Donegal
|Publisher||Colourpoint Books, Colourpoint House, Jubilee Business Park, 21 Jubilee Road, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT23 4YH.|
The Swilly and The Wee Donegal is a personal photographic record of the narrow gauge railways of County Donegal in the 1950s. Whilst, as ever, the primary focus is on trains/rolling stock, built heritage features included are:
- Fahan station building
- Inch Road station building
- Tooban Junction signal cabin
- Burnfoot station building
- Bridge End
- Graving Dock (Derry)
- Victoria Road (Derry)
- Finn River Bridge (Strabane - Lifford)
- Donegal Town
The overall publication is another good one from Colourpoint, although let down slightly by giving credence in the introduction to the defeatist, "Pale Rail" attitude of Platform 11.
Days Hotel Belfast - located in a lovely area of Belfast where the Union Jack flies from every lamppost and the kerbstones are painted blue white and red.
