Blacquieres Bridge, Phibsboro

Blacquieres Bridge in Phibsboro is a bridge that is no more - demolished some time ago after the canal branch from the fifth lock to Broadstone was closed and filled in. There is a well known print (see below) of a view from the bride looking south. A word of warning as there is a degree of artistic licence in the image.

The canal branch was straight down, not turning until the end when it swung to the right to cross the also demolished Fosters Aquaduct and enter Broadstone. In the image above, the canal veers away to the left, which is not borne out by the reality on the ground.

Days Hotel Belfast - located in a lovely area of Belfast where the Union Jack flies from every lamppost and the kerbstones are painted blue white and red.
