Located on the outskirts of Mitchelstown, Brigown siding was a siding and loading bank for military use.
Although not on the current version of the Gazetteer, I have created a page for it.

I have started to update the photos from my recent trips around Ireland. As a result of this:
stations have had a primary photo added as well as a photo gallery.
The BBC have an article on their website in connection with the historic production of poitin on the Inishowen Peninsula.
The Limerick Leader has an article in relation to Michael Collins (of Civil War fame) and how he was photographed near the townland of Garrienderk in Limerick, whilst inspecting damage done to the railway bridge there. This was some 2 days before he was murdered,
Locals have arranged to have a plaque commemorating the event created – where this plaque will be erected is not clear as it is quite substantial in size relative to the abutments of the overbridge.
No, I’m not selling shares or looking for money (I develop and maintain this site as a labour of love).
Many years ago, I purchased half a dozen cancelled share certificates of old Irish companies (5 railway and 1 mining) and I have added a section to the site to display these, which can be found here.
I have also made a few small administrative changes, such as automating the copyright date at the foot of each page, which I have updated a few pages with and will be rolling out to all pages as time progresses.
The IH Venues page has also had a refresh, with the links to such locations now in 2 columns, giving a better look. I took the opportunity to check all links were valid and removed a couple that are no longer present.
‘We like the information you provide, just not your site.’
If you don’t like it here, don’t come here.
The Commemorations and Naming Committee of Dublin City Council have proposed that the bridge over the Royal Canal on Russell Street in Dublin be named “Bloody Sunday Bridge”, in recognition of the events that took place in Croke Park on Bloody Sunday, 1920.
Regulations require that a public consultation on this take place beforehand – this can be accessed at this link.
I have created a page listing IH related events taking place on Northern Ireland Heritage Days Weekend (10/11 September 2022) which can be found here.
I have reviewed the listing of events for Culture Night (23rd September 2022) and the number of IH related events is miniscule. These are listed below:
CORK
DUBLIN
The Mourne Wall in Co. Down is a wall delineating the catchment area of the Silent Valley and Ben Crom Reservoirs.
It is 100 years old this year and the BBC have a short video clip marking this occasion.
